The Viola obliqua plant species is found in Eastern N. America - Quebec to Ontario and south to Georgia. It is a member of the Violaceae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Marsh blue violet. Some home gardeners know the variety as V. cucullata. Ait.

Habitat:  Wet places, often in open woods[187]. Wet meadows, springs, bogs, swamps etc[43].



Medicinal Information:  An infusion of the plant has been used in the treatment of coughs, colds and dysentery[257]. A poultice of the leaves has been used to reduce the pain of headaches[257]. A poultice of the crushed root has been applied to boils[257].
