Viburnum fordiae Cultivation | Propagation | General Uses Cultivation Notes: We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain, though judging by its native range it should succeed outdoors at least in the milder areas of the country. It requires woodland conditions but without competition from other plants. The following notes are based on the general needs of the genus. An easily grown plant, succeeding in most soils but ill-adapted for poor soils and dry situations[1]. Prefers a deep rich loamy soil in a shady position. Best if given shade from the early morning sun in spring[200]. Plants are self-incompatible and need to grow close to a genetically distinct plant in the same species in order to produce fruit and fertile seed[11, 200].
