The Ribes pinetorum plant species is found in Southwestern N. America - Arizona, New Mexico. It is a member of the Grossulariaceae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Orange gooseberry. Some home gardeners know the variety as Grossularia pinetorum. (Greene.)Cov.&Britt.

Habitat:  Pinewoods[11].



Cultivation Notes:  Easily grown in a moisture retentive but well-drained loamy soil of at least moderate quality[11, 200]. Requires a sunny position[11]. Hardy to about -20c[200]. Plants can harbour a stage of 'white pine blister rust', so they should not be grown in the vicinity of pine trees[155]. Another report says that it grows well in the shade of pine trees[182]. Does this species harbour the rust?[K]. Plants in this genus are notably susceptible to honey fungus[200].
