The Rhamnus persicus plant species is found in W. Asia - Turkey to Iran and Afghanistan. It is a member of the Rhamnaceae family. Some home gardeners know the variety as R. kurdicus. Boiss.&Hoh.

Known Hazards:  Although no specific mention of toxicity has been found for this species, there is the suggestion that some members of this genus could be mildly poisonous[65].

Habitat:  Rocky slopes and cliffs, 1800 - 1900 metres in Turkey.

Cultivation Notes: We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain, though judging by its native range it should succeed outdoors at least in the milder areas of this country. The following notes are based on the general needs of the genus. Succeeds in any reasonably good soil[11]. The species in this genus are notably resistant to honey fungus[200].
