The Potentilla norvegica plant species is found in Northern Temperate zones, through Asia, Europe to N. America. Naturalized in Britain[17]. It is a member of the Rosaceae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Norwegian cinquefoil. Some home gardeners know the variety as P. monspeliensis.

Habitat:  Waste ground, southwards from Inverness but mainly in southeastern England[17].



Cultivation Notes:  Easily grown in a well-drained loam, preferring a position in full sun but tolerating shade[1]. Prefers an alkaline soil but tolerates a slightly acid soil[200]. An annual, biennial or short-lived perennial plant[17]. Members of this genus are rarely if ever troubled by browsing deer[233].
