The Acacia farnesiana plant species is found in Southeastern N. America - Florida. It is a member of the Leguminosae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Sweet acacia.

Habitat:  Dry sandy soils in pinelands, hammocks and disturbed areas[229].



Cultivation Notes:  Prefers a light sandy loam and a very sunny position sheltered from strong winds[1, 49, 89]. Most species in this genus become chlorotic on limey soils[200]. Established plants are very drought tolerant[227, 245]. This species is cultivated in France for its flowers, which are the source of an essential oil used in perfumery[229]. A good bee plant[227].
