Cultivation Notes: We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain. This species is closely related to O. vulgare and considered to be part of that species by some botanists[50, 74]. The following notes are based on the general needs of the genus.
Requires a rather dry, warm, well-drained soil, but is not fussy as to soil type, thriving on chalk[1]. Prefers slightly alkaline conditions[1].
Members of this genus are rarely if ever troubled by browsing deer[233].
