The Macleaya cordata plant species is found in E. Asia - E. China, Japan. It is a member of the Papaveraceae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Plume poppy. Some home gardeners know the variety as Bocconia cordata. B. yedoensis.

Habitat:  Grassy places, open meadows and the grassy floors of Cryptomeria plantations[187].



Medicinal Information:  The whole plant is analgesic, antiedemic, carminative, depurative and diuretic[218]. The juice from the stems of the leaves is used to treat insect bites[4]. A decoction of the leaves and stems is used in the treatment of ringworm[218]. The poisonous sap is used to counter poisonous sores[218].
