Known Hazards:  Although no individual reports regarding this species have been seen, there have been cases of poisoning caused by the consumption, in very large quantities and by some mammals, of certain members of this genus. Dogs seem to be particularly susceptible[76].

Habitat:  Limestone rocks and fields in dry places[17, 90].



Edible Uses:  Edible bulb - raw or cooked[2, 46, 61, 177]. An onion substitute[22]. The bulbs are up to 35mm in diameter[200]. Leaves - raw or cooked[177]. They can be dried for later use[183]. Flowers - raw. Used as a garnish on salads.
