Habitat:  Thickets and woods, preferring moist woods[109].

Edible Uses: Seed - raw or cooked[183]. Made into confections and sweetmeats[183]. A good flavour but the shell is very thick and the seed is small[11]. An edible oil is obtained from the seed[183], it tends to go rancid quickly.
