The Darmera peltata plant species is found in Southwestern N. America - California to Oregon. It is a member of the Saxifragaceae family. Common gardeners may know the plant as Umbrella plant. Some home gardeners know the variety as Peltiphyllum peltatum. (Torr.)Engl. Saxifraga peltata.

Habitat:  By the banks of mountain streams below 1800 metres[187]. By or in cold mountain streams[60].



General Uses:  Can be grown as a ground cover plant in a sunny position[188]. Plants should be spaced about 60cm apart each way[208]. Useful as a soil stabilizer for marshy land or muddy banks[200, 233].
